According to Sportsnet NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi has reduced his asking price for a new contract.
Initially, Domi was looking for a five-year deal at $5 million per season in NHL free agency which begins on Monday. Now, Friedman reports, he's willing to settle for $4 million per season on a four-year deal.
I know there were reports initially it would have to be 5x5. I don't think that's the case right now. I've heard the ask is in the 4x4 range, which doesn't strike me as incredibly unreasonable. Again, I think the Leafs are trying to be really careful.
