Maple Leafs Linked To A Future Hall Of Famer At The Deadline
The NHL trade deadline is now just a few short weeks away. This means that reports and rumors are at an all-time high surrounding many players. One player, in particular, was mentioned today in connection with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
On Today's edition of Insider Trading NHL insider Pierre LeBrun threw out one particular name to look out for if you are a Maple Leafs fan. The name LeBrun has heard connected to Toronto recently is goaltender
Marc-Andre Fleury.

LeBrun on MAF (Insider Trading): «If Minnesota does fall out of it and it's clear that they are out of it, Fleury potentially could look at 2-3 teams, among those options I'm told are the likes of Carolina, the likes of Toronto and the likes of Colorado»
With Fleury, the Wild would need to get his approval before making a trade. LeBrun's reports seem to indicate that Fleury would be open to a move to a team such as the Maple Leafs. If Fleury does indeed approve such a move would it be worth it for the Maple Leafs?
Will Adding Fleury Solve The Maple Leafs Goaltending Issues?
Now while Marc-Andre Fleury is not the player he used to be in his prime he is still an outstanding goaltender. If the Maple Leafs were to pursue Fleury it would likely take a steep price to get him. Both in trade assets and salary cap.
With
Joseph Woll being back on the ice and nearing a return the decision becomes more complicated. The Maple Leafs already have Woll along with two veterans Martin Jones and
Ilya Samsonov. Adding Fleury would mean a quality player would need to be sent down.
If the Maple Leafs go in on Fleury it would be an all-in type of move. It would be a signal to the fans and the team that the front office believes in them. It will be fun to see if these rumors and reports turn into a finalized deal in the future.
