The Toronto Maple Leafs are once again headed to the playoffs to chase a Stanley Cup, and once again, many fans are being priced out of the building.
While prices all across Canada for seemingly everything have sky rocketed, the prices on Ticketmaster are ridiculous, with one fan on social media showing off tickets that are listed at over $2,100.
This has been a constant issue at Maple Leafs playoff games for years, with the majority of diehard fans opting to watch the game in Maple Leaf Square instead on the big screen, as it costs no money and most importantly, brings the playoff atmosphere that should be inside the arena. Instead, the seats are packed with rich fans that often don't bring the same level of energy and passion that diehard fans would, and sure, all teams see increased prices at playoff level, but not to this extent.
According to Ticketsmarter.com, the average cost of a playoff ticket in the NHL (with big cities such as New York and Toronto likely raising the average) comes in at around $618, so while it's certainly not affordable for everyone all over the NHL, the Maple Leafs take it to another level, and it costs them a better atmosphere inside the arena.
