The Toronto Maple Leafs haven't given up on the idea of trading Mitch Marner, and now a wild trade proposal has emerged that would send him to Boston.
For the past two months, rumours have been circling the Toronto Maple Leafs and star winger Mitch Marner, and now one shocking proposal has predicted they could do business with the team that just eliminated them from the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Thanks to a feature on CapWages, one fan has proposed a wild deal that would be one-for-one, with Boston trading star defenseman Charlie McAvoy for Marner in a deal that would shock the entire NHL world.
Many Maple Leafs fans are desperate to move Marner to potentially provide some more depth to their forward group, but given how little scoring they had in the seven game series against Boston, it wouldn't be a smart idea at all. Sure, McAvoy would give this blue line a star alongside Morgan Rielly, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Timothy Liljegren and Chris Tanev, but given the Bruins need for him to be a leader, it wouldn't make much sense for them either.
On paper, the deal definitely works, but given the hatred that these two teams share alongside their respective needs, this is just one that would never happen, but given how the Maple Leafs could look to move Marner, absolutely anything could be possible under General Manager Brad Treliving.
