According to The Hockey News' Mikey Stephens, the Leafs have been chatting with the Devils about Toffoli. Yet, the price tag on this 31-year-old winger is steep. Nevertheless, with eight 20-goal seasons and a Stanley Cup, under his belt, there's no denying that Toffoli could inject firepower into Toronto's top-9.
Toffoli's journey to this point has been a rollercoaster. After notching a career-high 73 points with the Calgary Flames last season, he was traded to the New Jersey Devils in the summer for Yegor Sharangovich and a 3rd round draft pick. Unfortunately, the Devils haven't been able to replicate last season's success, landing Toffoli on the trading block. With 26 goals and 44 points in 61 games this season, Toffoli's still got that scoring touch and it makes sense Toronto is pursuing him.
