After Brad Treliving and the Maple Leafs hired Craig Berube many thought Mitch Marner's time in Toronto was coming to an end however a new report believes that might not be the case.

The Toronto Maple Leafs had a disappointing end to the 2023-24 NHL season. After their playoff loss to the Boston Bruins, many people blamed Mitch Marner. This led to a lot of trade rumors involving the star forward. The Maple Leafs also made a coaching change hiring Craig Berube to replace Sheldon Keefe.
As we have been speculating for days, Craig Berube has been hired as the Toronto Maple Leafs new head coach. Brad Treliving completing a process that included a good group of candidates.
The hiring of Craig Berube seemed to clash with the style that Mitch Marner played. However, the two went out to lunch recently to talk about the future of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It seems that the meeting between the two won over Craig Berube and might have save Mitch Marner's future in Toronto. A user on X has indicated that he has sources confirming that Craig Berube wants an opportunity to coach Mitch Marner.
Sources have indicated that Craig Berube has been vocal that he wants an opportunity to coach Mitch Marner.

Feels he's a special player and the coach believes he can unlock another level to his game.
Of course, these sources being anonymous could mean they are unreliable so take this news with a grain of salt. If the news is true it would mean that Mitch Marner is staying heading into next season. Then the Toronto Maple Leafs would need to trade someone else to switch up the roster majorly.
If no trades are made we could see the Toronto Maple Leafs run it back and hope that a coaching change makes the difference. Only time will tell if these sources are correct or if Mitch Marner is bound for a change of scenery.
