Brett Pesce of the Carolina Hurricanes is a pending UFA, and the Toronto Maple Leafs are interested in his services.
Pesce, who has been injured since game 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the New York Islanders, is set to hit the free agent market in July 1st when his contract expires.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been rumoured to be interested in signing the D-man, and those rumours have finally been confirmed.
Pesce has been a steady presence on the Canes blueline since the 2015-2016 season, being touted as one of the best stay at home D-men in the league. He is no slouch offensively either, with a career high of 30 points.
The Maple Leafs, who were eliminated in round 1 against the Boston Bruins, will be looking for some help on the backend and a compliment for Morgan Rielly, who is more known for his offensive game.
Peace will have a large market, so the Leafs will have to make a great offer to retain his services for the coming seasons.
