The Toronto Maple Leafs may not be 100% set in net moving forward, but after a big playoff performance, they've locked up Joseph Woll for the near future.
Despite losing in the first-round of the playoffs, the Toronto Maple Leafs learnt plenty about their roster in a seven-game series with the Bruins, but it was the breakout performance of Joseph Woll that impressed most. He impressed the front office so much that according to Kevin Weekes, they've now moved to lock up the 25-year old on a multi-year deal.
**Breaking News** 🚨 📰 I'm told the @MapleLeafs are closing in on 3Yr Contract Extension (July 1st) for G Woll in the neighborhood between $ 3.5M - $4M AAV.
In 25 games this past year, Woll posted a solid 2.94 GAA and a .907 save percentage, and after missing out on Jacob Markstrom, they may be settling in with Woll as their No. 1. With Toronto needing to make moves all over their roster, things may change going forward, but at $3.5M to $4M annually, this is a solid deal to keep Woll in town moving forward.
In Woll, the Maple Leafs have a talented, confident goaltender, and if they put the right team in front of him, they may finally have a chance for a Stanley Cup push in 2024-25 and beyond.
