Tonight the Toronto Marlies and Laval Rocket took the ice in the AHL against one another. This AHL iteration of an original six matchup lived up to expectations when a former NHL enforcer started a brawl.

With less than 5 minutes left in the first period of an intense AHL matchup, Toronto Marlies forward Kyle Clifford who formerly played in the NHL for many seasons went looking for a fight. He found one after running over Rocket goaltender Jakub Dobes. Almost immediately Rocket player Olivier Galipeau stepped in to protect his goalie.

The fight would go on for a while before referees could get a handle on the game again. Eventually, penalties were given to both Clifford and Galipeau. Clifford would get 4 minutes for roughing while Galipeau would only get 2 minutes also for roughing.
Kyle Clifford gets 4 for roughing and Olivier Galipeau gets 2 for roughing at 15:20. Our penalty kill gets to work.
In the end, the Marlies would head home with a 7-1 win over the Rocket. This put the Marlies up on the Rocket in the standings by 3 points. The two sides will meet one more time in the regular season a week from today.
