In a major announcement, it was revealed that Mariah Fujimagari, a talented female goaltender, has officially signed an Emergency Backup Goalie contract with the Norfolk Admirals, the ECHL affiliate team of the Jets.
"Note: In uniform as the emergency backup goaltender for @NorfolkAdmirals in tonight's game at @RailersHC is Mariah Fujimagari. After attending training camp w/ @KalamazooWings, this'll be her first time on the bench for a regular-season ECHL game."
Fujimagari's journey in the ECHL began last summer when she attended the training camp of the Kalamazoo Wings, the ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, on a tryout contract. She even participated in an exhibition game.
However, she won't be seen on the ice tonight unless the starting goalie gets injured of ejected.
