John Gibson Crosses Center Ice To Take On Blackhawks Goalie In Full On Brawl

The Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim ducks just played one of the most entertaining games of the season last night. A huge brawl erupted in the third period, adding a lot of intensity to the final minutes of the game.

Line Brawl Breaks Out In Chicago, Both Goalies Involved

It appeared as though this scrum would have ended in a normal fashion but then Blackhawks goaltender Petr Mrazek got involved, rapidly escalating things.

Ducks goaltender John Gibson noticed this from center ice and decided to go in. He crossed center ice while dropping his gloves.

Gibson Ejected After Joining Brawl In Blackhawks Zone

The move was highly entertaining as the crowd went crazy. Gibson was able to get into the scrum, but the officials kept the two goaltenders from properly fighting each other.

All of this resulted in Gibson being ejected from the game for crossing center ice. As such, the Ducks were forced to put backup netminder Lukas Dostal in net for the remainder of the game.
Lukáš Dostál is now in net after John Gibson crossed the red line to engage in a post-whistle scuffle. Pavel Mintyukov also engaged in his first NHL fight with Reese Johnson.

One fan summarized the game succinctly. It was truly a great night for Blackhawks fans although the result is technically bad for the tank.
