The Humboldt Broncos have recently suspended Jared Picklyk, their 20-year-old goalie, after he was arrested.
It was reported by the Saskatchewan RCMP, that at 1:25 AM on Saturday, Picklyk was taken into custody. This happened a few hours after the Broncos beat the Nipawin Hawks, eliminating them from the SJHL playoffs. The report stated that Picklyk crashed a vehicle into a house. The police arrested Picklyk for his refusal to cooperate, and for his decision to refuse an alcohol breath screening test.
The RCMP confirmed that, thankfully, no one was injured due to the crash. They announced that the investigation is still ongoing. Many suspect that Picklyk was intoxicated behind the wheel, which resulted in the crash. It is currently unknown how long Picklyk will remain suspended, but it is clear that his junior career is over. Picklyk is still undrafted in the NHL, but it is obvious that due to this incident, it will probably destroy any chanced he had of getting drafted.
