Future Hall of Famer Joe Pavelski spotted skating with a surprising team
Former NHL legend with the San Jose Sharks and Dallas Stars Joe Pavelski is seen skating at the Pittsburgh Penguins training camp this morning.
Josh Getzoff, the play-by-play voice of the Penguins for SportsNet Pittsburgh was in attendance today at training camp and noticed him on the ice and reported this information on X.
With his hockey knowledge and leadership skills, it is not a surprise that Pavelski would be looking for a job within a hockey organization. This sighting could be an indication that the future hall of famer might be looking for a position with Pittsburgh.
At 40-years-old, Pavelski just retired as a player after the 2023-24 season. As of now a position with the Penguins is not clear. He could be a coach, scout or someone in the front office.
Pavelski has 1,332 games under his belt. In a career that started in 2006, he has accumulated 1,068 total points (476G, 592A). Although he never reached a 100-point season, he had 20 plus goals in 13 of his 18 seasons in the NHL. In 2013-14 he broke the 40-goal plain for his only time in his career with 41 goals as a Shark.
Pavelski has played in just over 200 playoff games reaching 143 total points in the playoffs.
Having him join the Penguins organization would be a huge benefit to players like Crosby, Malkin and Letang, veterans who have played with Pavelski as a peer for all of their careers.
