NHL expansion has been a hot topic as of late, and now the league has taken another step towards it, with the Commissioner meeting potential new teams.
While the new expansion team the Seattle Kraken are just finishing up their third season in the NHL, the league are quickly looking to expand once more, with many potential cities in the mix. Three that have emerged at the top are Houston, Salt Lake City and Atlanta, and while we don't yet know if the league prefer expansion or relocation, it feels only a matter of time until one or more of these cities have an NHL team.
With things up in the air for the Arizona Coyotes, the NHL's landscape could be changed in a big way, along with Utah Jazz Owner Ryan Smith looking to bring a potential new team to Salt Lake City. Right now it's very unclear just who will be getting the next NHL team, with all three cities plus a potential return to Quebec City making sense for the NHL, and with reports seemingly changing all the time, all we can do now is sit back and wait for the NHL to announce teams No. 33 and 34, which could both happen over the next few years.
