The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Chicago Blackhawks have just sealed the deal on a trade. Rem Pitlick is packing his bags and heading from the Penguins to the Blackhawks in exchange for a conditional 7th-rounder.

I interrupt the eclipse content to bring you some earthshaking Blackhawks news: The 2026 7th-round pick the Hawks traded to the Penguins for Rem Pitlick had a condition of Pitlick playing 30 NHL games, per source. He only played nine, so the Hawks will keep the pick after all.
Part of the deal was that Pitlick needed to hit the ice for at least 30 games to secure that coveted 7th-round pick for the Penguins. Yet he spent most of his time in the AHL with the Rockford Icehogs, so that condition went down the drain. The Penguins pretty much gave him away for free.
Sure, it's not the end of the world, considering 7th-round picks aren't exactly game-changers. However, it's still stinks, especially when the Penguins are eyeing more draft picks, especially with their first-rounder possibly going to San Jose. They'll need all the depth picks they can snag. Let's see what they cook up next!
