Ullmark had a 16-team no-trade clause, giving him control over the negotiations. He has just one season left on his contract at $5 million. He declined a trade at the deadline because it was to a team on his list. However, though Ottawa was one of the teams, he's okay with.
During his time in Boston, Ullmark earned major accolades, including the Vezina Trophy in 2023 and the William M. Jennings Trophy alongside Jeremy Swayman.
Last season, Ullmark posted solid numbers with a 22-10-7 record, a .915 save percentage, and a 2.57 goals-against average. His standout performance came in his Vezina-winning season (2022-23), where he went 40-6-1 with an impressive .938 save percentage and a 1.89 goals-against average.
Rumors had pointed to the Ottawa Senators as the favorite to acquire him, even though they were on Ullmark's no-trade list. It's possible the sides even work out a contract extension, since he will be a free agent next Summer.
