The NHL is set to see the relocation of the Arizona Coyotes to Salt Lake City, and now, it has been confirmed that Gary Bettman will make the move official next week on April 18.
The move comes after Arizona failed to secure an arena deal in time, with owner Alex Meruelo struggling to keep the team afloat, and now, they will be taken over by Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith in Salt Lake City. It's unclear whether or not the Smith group will have branding, a team name and a potential jersey/logo ready to unveil, as he was just recently asking for name suggestions on social media, but at this point, they have at least now secured a team.
The move will be immediate, with the Salt Lake City team to join the NHL in 2024-25, and with potential conference and/or division realignment, the landscape of the NHL is once again about to change in a major way.
