The new NHL team in Utah is already looking to make a splash in free agency, as NHL insider Elliotte Friedman is reporting they will take an aggressive approach to signings and trades this offseason.

It hasn't even been confirmed yet that the Arizona Coyotes will be moving to Utah for next season, however, it has all but been confirmed. Plyers have been notified that they will be moving, and all signs are pointing to Utah.
Now, Elliotte Friedman is already reporting on the new team's potential strategy in free agency this offseason. He stated on his podcast that new ownership will be looking to take an aggressive approach to free agency this offseason as well as making any trades needed.
Friedman on 32TP says he expects the new Utah team to be very aggressive in free agency and trades, expects new owner Ryan Smith to spend money. They got a good cap situation, they are loaded with picks and prospects as well.
This makes a lot of sense, as Utah will want to make a big splash for their new fan base, and they are in a situation where they can only make the team better. The Coyotes failed to make the playoffs again this season, giving new ownership the leeway to make big swings and clean house.
One free agent that came up is Steven Stamkos, which would be the biggest swing of them all. Reports that Stamkos's talks with Tampa have soured have surfaced, and he remains poised to be a UFA this offseason. Will he become the face of the new team in Utah?
