The Bruins were forced to make significant lineup modifications following the retirements of David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron. Now, a new era is starting in Boston and players need to step up to the occasion to make a name for themselves.
DeBrusk's Goal
Jake DeBrusk, whose contract with the Bruins will end after the upcoming season, recently expressed his optimism about remaining with the team.
"I'm hoping to stay [with the Boston Bruins]. It's the only team that I know and the team that I grew up with,"
The veteran Bruin is optimistic that negotiations between his agent and the team will conclude favorably before he enters free agency next year.
On the Verge of a Breakout
Last season, the 26-year-old tallied 27 goals and 50 points across 64 games, equaling his personal best in goals and setting a new career-high in points.
For the current season, DeBrusk is aiming to maintain his health and expects to deliver an even more impressive performance.
"Last year when I got injured in the Winter Classic. I was just really starting to come into my game, so it made me a little bit angry because I thought I was going to go on kind of a heater there, which probably would have ended up being 30 or 35 [goals]." DeBrusk said "If I stay healthy, I think I can score 30 this season."
