The Buffalo Sabres dropped the hammer today. They gave head coach Don Granato and a couple assistant coaches the boot after yet another season of missing the playoffs.
Granato is a good coach, as the 56 year-old was 122-124-27 in 274 games over four seasons.Unfortunately, the drought wasn't snapped which is the benchmark for a bench boss in this city.
It's been 13 years since the Sabres sniffed the playoffs. But it's possible this could might just be the beginning. Big moves are definitely on the horizon for those guys out in western New York.
There could be some major shakeups in the front office. GM Kevyn Adams could also get the boot too. Hopefully a new coach comes in who can help them reach the promise land. Throw in the renovations to KeyBank Center and it's going to be an intriguing summer in Buffalo.
