NHL Insider Reveals Best Candidate to be Leafs' GM
Yesterday, the Toronto Maple Leafs organization finally announced that they were parting ways with Kyle Dubas.
With the draft just over a month away, all the contract negotiations and free agency on July 1st, the Leafs have no time to waste. They'll have to hire someone sooner than later.
A handful of potential names are being tossed around, but one figure is emerging as a frontrunner, tipped by a reliable NHL insider.
Who Will Fill Dubas' Shoes?

According to Chris Johnston, former Calgary GM Brad Treliving is a strong contender.
"Let it be said here that Brad Treliving is now the favorite to replace him as Leafs GM because there are so few obvious options who meet Shanahan's requirement that having an experienced general manager would be an attractive quality."
But there's a twist. Treliving's tenure in Calgary doesn't officially end until June 30th, and the Flames had previously expressed that they wouldn't permit him to consider other opportunities before his contract expires.
However, it seems they've had a change of heart:
"Hearing Flames have reconsidered their approach with former GM Brad Treliving, after our report last week, and will not get in the way if any future employment opportunity arises before his contract expires on June 30." - Frank Seravalli
Should Shanahan favor a candidate with experience, Treliving is a sure bet, despite his past missteps - most notably last summer's Tkachuk-Huberdeau trade.
But let's remain optimistic. Should Toronto become Treliving's new home, we can only hope he's learned valuable lessons from his previous mistakes.
