Currently, Corey Perry is a free agent, available to sign with any NHL team following his contract termination by the Chicago Blackhawks earlier this season.

The exact reasons behind the Blackhawks' decision to part ways with Perry are not fully known, but recent comments from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman might offer some insights into the situation.

Friedman Shares Major Update on Perry's Termination

In the latest episode of his podcast 32 Thoughts, Friedman discussed the lack of full disclosure regarding Perry's incident. He suggested that if Perry had been with any team other than the Blackhawks when the incident occurred, the termination of his contract might not have happened.
"There is definitely a feeling here that if this had happened on any other team (besides the Chicago Blackhawks) it might not of led to a contract termination."

Perry's Fate Could Have Been Different in Any Other Team

This leads to the question of why the Blackhawks were quick to sever ties with Perry. Friedman didn't specify, but the Blackhawks have faced numerous challenges both on and off the ice in recent years.
Chicago probably wants to maintain a low profile, possibly influencing their decision on Perry.
In contrast, teams looking to win the Stanley Cup, might not share the same reservations.
