NHL Agrees To Settlement With NHLPA Regarding Perry's Contract
A post on X from reporter Joe Smith has confirmed that the NHL and NHLPA have reached a 'settlement' regarding Corey Perry's termination. Smith says no official grievance was filed but a settlement has been reached regardless.
Hearing the NHLPA has reached an agreement with the NHL and Blackhawks to come to a settlement re: Corey Perry's contract termination issue. There was a deadline for Perry to file a grievance that had been extended. So no official grievance was filed
As of now, it has not been made clear what if any compensation will be heading Corey Perry's way. However, according to Frank Seravalli, some financial compensation is expected. Perry of course found a new home relatively quickly and is now part of a playoff push with the Edmonton Oilers.
Sounds like there is a small salary cap charge coming for #Blackhawks as a result of the settlement between Chicago, Corey Perry, the NHL and NHLPA after what Perry's camp alleged was an improper contract termination.
Rather than grievance, a financial resolution was reached.
If there are further updates about the settlement that was reached between the two sides we will pass it along to you.
