Makar, who was a member of the 2018 team, but was not present with the rest of the team at the time when the incident took place, and not named in the investigation, commented on the matter, as well as his own consequences in connection to the scandal, having been removed from international play for Canada, despite not being involved.
5 members of the 2018 Canadian men's World Juniors team, Carter Hart, Dillon Dube, Michael McLeod, Cal Foote & Alex Formenton were recently charged by London Police following an investigation into accusations made by an unnamed woman.
The five players charged have been placed on leave by their teams. The Calgary Flames, who announced prior to the announcement of charges, cited "mental health reasons" as cause for Dube's leave of absence, released a second
statement after the fact, saying the team had no knowledge of any pending charges before granting Dube time away from the Flames.
The five accused players will be arraigned in court in London, Ontario on Monday, with London Police holding a press conference the same day to update media on the investigation.
