Colorado Avalanche's veteran Jack Johnson shared his thoughts on Valeri Nichushkin and his six months suspension in a recent interview.
Last night, a major turn of events struck the Avs' locker room. Their best scorer of the playoffs, Valeri Nichushkin, was suspended six months bu the NHL, reportedly for failing a drug test during an intermission.
This is the second time that Nichushkin gets suspended for that issue in two years.
"#Avs forward Val Nichushkin has been suspended without pay for a minimum 6 months for violating terms of #NHL/#NHLPA Player Assistance Program.
Sources say Nichushkin recently failed a drug test. He missed playoff games last year after a 911 call in Seattle in which an intoxicated woman was found in his room."
It's a tough loss for the Avs players. Not only are they losing a good player, some of them clearly feel like he let them down.
After last night's game, players were asked to hare their thoughts on the whole thing, and that's what the respected veteran Jack Johnson did.
He simply said that Nichushkin made his own decision, which says a lot on his disappointment:
"#Avs Jack Johnson on Val Nichushkin:
«He made his decisions. That's all I'm going to say on that. He made his decisions.»
Nichushkin's nameplate has already been replaced in the Avs locker room."
The fact that Colorado already removed Nichushkin's nameplate from the locker room shows that the team is extremely disappointed in him.
Do you think Valeri Nichushkin played his last game in the NHL?
