The Blue Jackets' new general manager, Don Waddell, blasted his own team in a massive rant on Columbus' culture during a recent interview.

For a culture change to happen in any organization, everything must be scrutinized: from the players to the front office.
The Columbus organization, after years of misery, seems to finally be seeing what hockey fans have been seeing in recent years: a lot must be done in Columbus to make the team great.
This offseason, many changes occurred, but the main one was definitely to name Don Waddell as the general manager of the team.
Waddell's experience speaks for itself: he built one of the great teams in the NHL in past years: the Carolina Hurricanes.
Now that he's in office, he must do everything he can to make sure his team gets back on the winning side. In a recent declaration, he targeted the main problem in the Blue Jackets' locker room: the losing culture.
He shocked a lot of people by saying out loud what everyone has been thinking for years. Take a look:
"The one thing is, I'm not saying it was everybody, but losing was acceptable (here) and losing is not acceptable," he said, according to NHL.com's Dave McCarthy. "We have a ways to go building this, but our goal every year should be to win the Stanley Cup, not just to win some games. It's a mindset."

"I believe what happened last year, talking to everybody, things didn't go well and they had a lot of injuries at the beginning of the year and fell out of the race pretty quick [and] they just kind of played out the season. And we have to change that."
With Dean Evason as head coach, Waddell made sure to get someone who can help bring a winning culture to the organization. His renowned hard-style coaching will surely help the young prospects Adam Fantilli and Cayden Lindstrom develop into NHL superstars who could become franchise players in Columbus.
