Today the Columbus Blue Jackets have made a major announcement confirming that they have hired Dean Evason as their head coach.
Over the past year the Columbus Blue Jackets have had a turbulent journey when it comes to their head coaching position. First Mike Babcock was hired but shortly after fired due to major scandals. Then his assistant Pascal Vincent took over.
After another disappointing season for the Columbus Blue Jackets their former GM Jarmo Kekalainen was fired and replaced by Don Waddell from the Carolina Hurricanes. This led to the firing of Pascal Vincent from his place as head coach.
Now the Columbus Blue Jackets have officially hired Dean Evason to usher in the next era of Blue Jackets hockey.
We're thrilled to welcome Dean and his wife Jen to the #CBJ family!
Dean Evason comes into Columbus after a stint as the head coach of the Minnesota Wild. He has shown a good ability to relate to young players which will be key with the young Columbus core group. It will be fun to see if there is any immediate turnaround from this group with their new bench boss.
