Zach, a.k.a. "Boomer" of B&B Round Table, made a comment about Laine, currently on leave with the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, saying that Laine was contemplating a "Remington Retirement", a euphanism for committing suicide by gun. Remington is a popular American firearms manufacturer.
What prompted the comment was unknown. The remark angered Laine, who took to X, formerly Twitter, to express his disgust at the comment, calling out the podcast directly.
Prominent media members of the Blue Jackets were quick to criticize the podcast, showing support to Laine.
Elaine Shurcliff, a contributing guest for the podcast, shared she was unaware of the joke, and would not be returning to B&B Round Table again following the comment.
Laine, a 2nd Overall Pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, has 6 Goals and 9 Points in 18 Games this season.
