Detroit Red Wings Head Coach Derek Lalonde told Bally Sports that there was no update on the status of Forward Patrick Kane after sustaining a lower-body injury against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but shared he did not believe Kane injured his hip, although he has not heard from medical staff.

Kane, who underwent hip resurfacing surgery before signing with Detroit as a free agent, left in the first period of Detroit's game vs Toronto shortly after colliding with Leafs Forward Pontus Holmberg, and did not return.
Kane, 35, has no timeline for his expected return, with the Red Wings likely to provide more clarity on Kane's injury status in the coming days.
Since signing with the Red Wings on a one-year deal following a long recovery process from surgery, a procedure that has made returning to the ice difficult for other NHLers who received the surgery in the past such as Nicklas Backstrom, who earlier this season stepped away from the NHL following lingering difficulties post-surgery.
Kane currently has 7 Goals, 9 Assists & 16 Points in 19 Games for Detroit this season. The Red Wings sit tied for 4th in the Atlantic Division with 49 points along with Tampa Bay, with an extra game up on the Lightning. Detroit has a 22-16-5 record on the year.
