The Edmonton Oilers won a Canadian record 13th straight game over the weekend, and now they've added more firepower in the form of veteran forward Corey Perry.

Oilers place Adam Erne on waivers

Given his experience and the cheap nature of his deal, this one could be a no-brainer for the Oilers, but obviously when you land someone like Corey Perry, it will lead to a corresponding move, which has been rumored to be veteran forward Adam Erne.
Adam Erne isn't on the ice for Oilers practice. The Oilers need to clear a contract to fit in Corey Perry. Today's waivers are announced at noon MT.
On Monday, the team officially announced that Adam Erne has been placed on waivers as Perry took to the ice for the first time with the Oilers.
In 23 games this year, Erne has put together 1 goals and 2 points, but given what Perry brings to the table, it's certainly a move that made sense for the win-now Oilers to make. Erne is currently on a one-year, $775k deal with the Oilers, so while he's shown promise, this was the right move for the Oilers.
