The Edmonton Oilers have just put their names in the history books with last night's win, and they surpassed the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens in doing so.

Oilers Set NHL Record For Consecutive Wins By Canadian Team

There is no question that the Edmonton Oilers are one of the NHL's best teams right now, it is just shocking to see how different this Oilers team has become since the start of the season. At the beginning of the year, the Oilers looked distraught, firing their head coach and sending their starting goaltender to the minors. Now, it's a different story.
The Oilers just won their 13th consecutive game, setting a new NHL record winning streak for a Canadian team. Starting goaltender Stuart Skinner, who many thought wouldn't be good enough to be the sole number 1 in Edmonton, also set some records.
"Oilers win 13th in a row and become first team from the Western Conference and first Canadian team to win 13.

Set franchise record with 11th consecutive game allowing two or fewer goals.

Skinner ties franchise record for goalie with 10 straight wins.

EDM is 21-3 in last 24."

Hyman and Knoblauch Respond to NHL Record Breaking Win

After the game, Zach Hyman, who is having himself a year with 45 points in 41 games, responded to what this record meant for the team.
"When we did the (franchise record) 10-game streak we eclipsed the Oilers, the 80s teams, now it's the old Montreal team. When you're in the moment you just go out there and play, but I'm sure it'll be something cool to look back on [how] we now hold this streak for a Canadian team. We want to keep winning, so we'll see where it goes."
The Oilers will look to continue this success in the second half of the season, looking to catch the Vancouver Canucks in the top spot in the division.
