Zach Kassian never achieved the heights that were expected from him when the Sabres drafted him 13th overall in 2009. However, he still managed to carve out a successful career for himself. Now it turns out that his career is no longer over.

Kassian Comes Out Of Retirement By signing With Czech Team

The 33-year-old was seemingly done for his career after he was unable to get a new contract last offseason. Considering the fact that he only recorded two points, both goals, in 51 games last season, it should come as no surprise that no team wanted to take a flyer on him. However, Czech club HC Sparta jumped at the opportunity to sign him today.
Kassian played in 661 career NHL games putting up 92 goals and 223 points in the process. He also put up a staggering 913 penalty minutes in his career as he rebranded himself as a gritty enforcer-like player.
The recent signing could be an indication that he has dreams of making a return to the NHL.
