The Edmonton Oilers have had a busy summer, and it appears that they may not be done making major additions before the new season begins.

It is no secret that the Oilers defense core has gotten significantly worse this off-season, as they lost Philip Broberg and Cody Ceci. They currently have Evan Bouchard, Darnell Nurse and Mattias Ekholm at the top, but after that it gets pretty thin.
According to Frank Seravalli, the Oilers could make a move that wouldn't even need to wait until training camps start, an intriguing comment by the trusted analyst.
Although not specifically mentioned by Seravalli, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens could be a potential suitor as they have an excess of D-men heading into training camp. Veteran players such as David Savard or Mike Matheson could be trade targets should the Oilers decide to engage in trade talks with Montreal.
"We know that the Oilers are looking for a defenseman, we know that Kent Hughes (of the Montreal Canadiens) and Stan Bowman have spoken recently, and we know the Habs are involved in several discussions." - Habs et LNH

Although nothing is confirmed to be in the works as of right now, there is a good chance that the Canadiens and the Oilers agree on a major trade, one that would impact both team greatly just weeks away from the beginning of training camp.
