The LA Kings took on the basement-dwelling San Jose Sharks last night, losing 4-3 in a shootout. Dubois, who signed an eight-year, $68 million contract with the Kings before this season started, was on the ice for just over 16 minutes, with very little of that coming in overtime. Dubois has also looked lost when he doesn't have the puck the last few games, something McLellan is growing tired of.
In other words, McLellan thinks it's time for his star player to get his s--t together and start playing like the star he's supposed to be. As it stands right now, Dubois has 9 goals and 19 points in 44 games, which puts him on pace for his worst season ever in the NHL, barring the shortened COVID season.
Unfortunately for McLellan, if Dubois can't turn his play around quickly, it'll be him staring down the possibility of being on the unemployment line. Dubois and his contract aren't going anywhere, unless the Kings decide to terminate it, which is highly unlikely.
