The Minnesota Wild have been the Cinderella story of the season, defying odds despite the buyouts of Ryan Suter and Zach Parise. Unfortunately, they've just encountered a significant hurdle.

Eriksson Ek Sidelined

On the surface, the Minnesota Wild may not seem to boast a lineup filled with superstars, especially with Kirill Kaprizov sidelined due to injury. However, Joel Eriksson Ek has been a crucial factor in the team's success, with his two-way game propelling the Wild to competitive heights.
Sadly, Eriksson Ek has now been designated week-to-week due to an injury, casting a shadow over what could have been a monumental season for the Wild.
Joel Eriksson Ek is week to week with a lower body injury. This is a massive blow to a team already lacking depth at the center position. Oskar Sundqvist (lower body) is day to day.

In brighter news, it appears that Kirill Kaprizov is on the cusp of returning. The Wild will need to call up a forward from Iowa.

The Pressure's on for Marco Rossi

If a player like Marco Rossi from Iowa can rise to the occasion and fill the void, the Wild may still have a fighting chance.
However, if they can't find a suitable replacement, this might spell the end of the Wild's Cup hopes even before the playoffs begin.
