In a shocking report coming out of Montreal, Cole Caufield of the Canadiens has announced on Instagram that he's changing his jersey number this season.

The Montreal Canadiens announced Tuesday that forward Cole Caufield will wear a new number this season, No. 13, in honor of Johnny Gaudreau.
"Getting to play with your hero is something that most people only dream of. I was lucky enough to be Johnny's teammate this past summer and it didn't take long to realize how great of a person he was. He was the most welcoming, genuine, and funniest guy I have ever met. He was someone everyone gravitated towards and I took every chance I could to be around him. Not only was he an amazing hockey player and teammate, but he was down to earth and truly cared about every person he encountered."

The decision to honor Johnny Gaudreau comes with a very poignant context, as Cole Caufield was one of many players who paid their respects after the tragic passing of Johnny and his brother Matthew. The Gaudreau brothers had been biking in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, when they were fatally struck by a driver on Thursday night.
"Always my hero," wrote Caufield.
