Patrik Laine, the latest addition to the Montreal Canadiens, was grilled about his reasons for entering the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program but handled it with honesty and openness.

Acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets along with a second round pick as appreciation for taking Laine's $8.7 million cap hit, in exchange for Jordan Harris, the 26 year-old opened up about his journey.
Laine admitted he struggled with certain situations in the past but is ready for what's next.
He's been focusing on his mental health and even started a support program with his fiancée.
One thing I've learned is that when you're no longer having fun doing what you do (in my case, playing hockey), you probably won't be able to perform, and that's kind of where I was. I hadn't been able to enjoy myself as much for a while, but now, I'm happier than ever. I've worked a lot on myself to get back to this point where I'm genuinely excited to start playing again, with a new team and new teammates. I've learned a lot of things, and I'm more ready than ever to put them into practice.

Having not been happy with his game in Columbus, Laine is ready for a fresh start in Montreal.
For Canadiens fans and GM Kent Hughes, it's exciting to see him eager to make an impact and rediscover his passion for hockey in the Habs' uniform!
