This morning news has broken that Nashville Predators goaltending prospect Yaroslav Askarov has requested to be traded by the team.

In a new post on X former NHL goaltender and now ESPN insider Kevin Weekes revealed that sources are saying Yaroslav Askarov is demanding a move away from the Nashville Predators. Kevin Weekes also confirms that Yaroslav Askarov will not be reporting to the AHL this season for the Predators if he is not traded.
This trade request comes on the heels of the Nashville Predators signing veteran goaltender Juuse Saros to a long-term deal. The signing caused many in the media as well as fans and now Yaroslav Askarov to realize there is a slim chance to playing time for the young goaltender.
With Yaroslav Askarov officially on the market he should have a ton of teams looking to land him. Yaroslav Askarov is one of the highest selected goalies in recent memory going 11th overall in 2020. After struggling in North America initially in 2022-23 Yaroslav Askarov broke out last season. In 44 AHL appearances in 2023-24, he had a 2.39 goals against average and a 0.911 save percentage.
With the NHL season just a few short weeks away the Nashville Predators will have to move fast if they want a player to replace Yaroslav Askarov by opening day. Watch for reports and rumors surrounding the young goaltender to jump immediately.
