Edmonton Oilers trade veteran defenseman Cody Ceci to the San Jose Sharks for Ty Emberson and a draft pick

This move lines up with their other move today trading for forward Vasily Podkolzin from the Vancouver Canucks. This seems to be a change of course with these two trades leading to a potential contract match for Philip Broberg.

To this point fans and media were under the impression that the two restricted free agents offered contracts by the St Louis Blues Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg were going to leave in free agency.
