Sheldon Keefe, former head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, got the boot on May 9. Now, with his coaching skills up for grabs, the New Jersey Devils are eyeing him as a potential game-changer to lead their talented squad to Stanley Cup glory and reports are they already got him.
Last season, the Devils had Lindy Ruff calling the shots behind the bench. Yet after a disappointing performance, they showed him the door in March and brought in Travis Green to finish out the playoff-less season, before going to the Ottawa Senators.
Enter Keefe, a seasoned NHL coach with five seasons under his belt, including a stint with the Maple Leafs from 2019 to 2024. With a win percentage of .665 and a knack for coaching young talent, Keefe could be just what the Devils need to get back on track. He also, won a Calder Cup in the AHL back in 2018 with the Toronto Marlies.
