Patrick Roy recently made his return to the NHL as he replaced Lane Lambert as head coach of the New York Islanders. Since then he has already made his mark on the team.

Islanders Off To Slow Start With Roy As Head Coach

The Islanders showed signs of life in their first game with Roy behind the bench. While the team was thoroughly outplayed, strong goaltending got the game to overtime, an area where the team has struggled mightily this season. However, Roy's team was able to come out with an OT win as Bo Horvat secured the victory.
That being said, the Islanders have dropped each of their last two games, including a 4-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. As such, it is critical that the team gets on a role with their new coach if they want to secure a playoff spot this season.

Roy Unveils New Team Rule For Islanders Team Practices

The new head coach clearly wants to make his mark on the team as it was revealed today that he has a new rule for team practices. Many players like to stay on the ice after practice is over to work on individual skills. However, Roy has made it clear that all players must come off the ice together now.
Roy also demands that all players go off together after skates. #Isles
Players like Connor Bedard might not be too thrilled with a rile like this as the rookie forward has regularly been seen working on things by himself both before and long after team practices have ended this season.
Hopefully this new rule gets the team working together better as a unit. Otherwise the Islanders could find themselves out of the playoff race by the trade deadline.
