Rangers Place Former Cup Champ On NHL Waivers

The New York Rangers are expected to place Forward Nick Bonino on waivers today, according to multiple reports. Vince Mercogliano of USA Today first reported the move.
The Rangers recalled Forward Jake Leschyshyn from AHL Hartford yesterday, a corresponding move with Bonino out for New York's game tomorrow against the Vegas Golden Knights for 'personal reasons', according to the team.
Bonino, 35, has a goal and 5 points in 45 games for the Rangers this season, but has struggled in recent games, currently on a 14-game scoreless slump.
The Rangers sit first in the Metropolitan Division with 61 points and a 29-15-3 record, good for third in the Eastern Conference in points, although the Rangers have dealt with a slight bump in recent games, going 3-5-2 in their last 10 games.
Bonino was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the 6th Round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, 173rd Overall.
Bonino won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017 as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Bonino has an NHL career total of 868 Games Played, with 159 Goals, 199 Assists & 358 Points for 7 teams across 15 NHL seasons.
