Despite being a key acquisition two summers ago, Giroux and the Senators just haven't worked out, and now a very intriguing rumour has popped up surrounding the veteran star.
According to Kevin Weekes, there's a distinct possibility that Giroux could be headed back to the Philadelphia Flyers at some point, and given the steps forward they've taken, it could be the perfect match.
While things haven't worked out as a team in Ottawa since landing Giroux, he's been fantastic individually, with 79 points a season ago and 42 in 49 games this season, but at 36-years of age, he needs to be on a contending team.
Giroux carries a $6.5 million cap hit for the remainder of this season and next season, but given how much the Flyers have improved, there's no doubting that he's the perfect fit, and if they can land him along with their veterans and young, rising stars, this could be a team to watch come playoff time.
