Alex Nylander falls victim to a Brady Tkachuk late hit kicking off the start of the battle of Ontario
Even in a pre-season game the intense rivalry between the Maple Leafs and Senators heats up as Tkachuk shoulders Nylander after the whistle, dropping him to the ice.
It is no secret that Tkachuk will stir the pot. And it looks like that will start early this year. Tkachuk dumped Nylander well after the whistle in their pre-season battle of Ontario. Nylander skated away from it, but Simon Benoit had no issue going up to Tkachuk and tell him about his displeasure in that late hit. Welcome to Toronto Alex.
After the linesmen broke up the two, both were given two-minute penalties. Thachuk, who is just out there playing for game ice time and conditioning with an obvious secure spot on the roster, continues to seemingly play with some aggression as he has throughout his career. Making him very disliked by opponents.
Unlike Thachuk, the younger Nylander is looking for a possible roster spot, as he was signed to an AHL contract this off-season and would love a chance to break into the Maple Leaf roster and play with his brother. He skated off the ice and is okay.

From the looks of it, Thachuk seems to be ready to go and get back to agitating the opponents. This will surely be something to keep an eye on as the season moves forward into the regular season. Players are not quick to forget, but it appears that Brady is ready for anything that Toronto has for him when they do meet up again.
