The NHL appears to never be short on drama, and now, a Philadelphia Flyers top prospect is seemingly looking to get out of his NHL contract.
When top NHL prospects come from Russia, there's always a sense that anything could happen before they make their NHL debut, and now, the Philadelphia are experiencing that first hand. According to a dramatic new report, Alexei Kolosov, who was a third-round pick of the 2021 NHL Draft recently missed his flight to Flyers development camp.
That's not all however, as he is now asking his former KHL team, Dynamo Minsk, if they can help him get out of his NHL contract with the Flyers, despite only recently signing it.
«Alexei Kolosov is the strangest guy. Sign a rookie contract to run home in a couple of months and refuse to return to the location Philadelphia is, of course, the upside of infantilism,» wrote Bogun. «I heard that the goalkeeper has already asked the management of Minsk to do everything to help solve the issue of termination of the contract in the NHL. The funny thing is that he was supposed to fly to Pennsylvania on June 20, according to the tickets purchased by the Flyers, but ‘completely by chance' overslept the flight and stayed in Belarus.
At 22-years of age, Kolosov was expected to be the Flyers long-term replacement for Carter Hart, but now everything is up in the air, and it's safe to say that the organization aren't happy. With training camp still over two months away, there's the opportunity for things to be made right, but if not, this will be another goaltending loss for Philadelphia as they look to take a step forward to becoming Stanley Cup Playoff contenders in 2024/25.
