Kyle Dubas has officially been hired as the general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins, despite reports that he would take next season off. The young exec made some major splashes early in his career and is now ready for his next task.
The Penguins recently relieved general manager Ron Hextall of his duties as general manager, and have been on the hunt for his replacement ever since. Dubas was recently fired from his role as Leafs' general manager just before the conclusion of his contract, and while he originally said he was either going to return to Toronto next season or take the year off to be with family, it looks like he's moved on fairly quickly.
It was originally reported by 105.9 the X that Dubas and Pittsburgh were finalizing a deal to name him GM of the Penguins, and later reinforced by reporter and insider David Pagnotta when he quote tweeted the post with a Penguin emoji.
Clearly, Dubas made a strong impression on the Penguins and their captain, as he's now been named their general manager.
