Now, Konstantin Koltsov's longtime girlfriend Aryna Sabalenka has taken to social media to release a statement on the matter.
«Konstantin's death is an unthinkable tragedy, and while we were no longer together, my heart is broken,» Sabalenka wrote in an Instagram story . «Please respect my privacy and his family's privacy during this difficult time.»
Aryna Sabalenka is a women's tennis star and a member of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Her statement revealed that she and Konstantin Koltsov were no longer together when the passing occurred, something not fully known by the public.
Konstantin Koltsov had a brief career in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins after being drafted 18th overall by the club. He played in 144 NHL games, scoring 12 goals with 26 assists. Later, he would go on to play in the KHL, appearing in 375 games and recording 43 goals with 73 assists.
