Part of the intricate world of hockey, both as a sport and a business, involves making tough decisions. Every choice made by a coach or General Manager carries profound consequences. Unfortunately, there are moments when making the right call for your team proves to be far from straightforward.
Along this journey, most General Managers strive to do what's best, or at the very least, uphold professionalism. Regrettably, for Morgan Geekie of the Seattle Kraken, he didn't receive the treatment one might expect.

The Kraken and their General Manager, Ron Francis, opted not to qualify Geekie. This move left Geekie as an unrestricted free agent, granting him the freedom to sign with any team of his choice. The unfortunate twist in this tale is that Francis neglected to inform Geekie about this decision.
Morgan Geekie Found Out About His Release From The Team Through Twitter
Former Kraken Morgan Geekie was a little surprised he hit the market. Found out via Twitter he wasn't returning to Seattle.
Morgan Geekie says that he found out on Twitter that the Kraken had let him walk. Sheeeeeesh.
Discovering such a significant career development via Twitter/X hardly paints a positive picture for the franchise's communication. However, despite this disheartening experience, Geekie managed to secure a fresh start with the Boston Bruins, signing a two-year contract worth $4,000,000 which is sure to make up for the unfortunate circumstances.
In the previous season, he showcased his skills by netting 9 goals and contributing 19 assists in 69 games for Seattle.
