The Tampa Bay Lightning are in need of some quality blue line depth, and it may be time for them to take a chance on a veteran down on his luck.

In recent years, few teams in the NHL have done more to get quality play out of their depth pieces, and with the goal of bouncing back into the Stanley Cup Finals in 2024/25, they may need to do it again. After trading away Mikhail Sergachev, it makes sense that this team would look to add a blue line piece, and with many PTO options available, they've now been linked to veteran Tyson Barrie.
Unfortunately, since being traded by the Edmonton Oilers, Barrie has struggled for success in the NHL, with the Predators quickly moving on from the 33-year old after the conclusion of last season. Now, he's without a home for the 2024/25 campaign, but on a PTO, there's very few players the Lightning could get that would provide them more quality play.
In 2023/24, Barrie played in just 41 games with Nashville, registering 1 goal, 15 points and a -10 differential over that time, and with very few teams lining up to land the former Oilers and Maple Leafs defenseman, if the Lightning can add him to a talented blue line, he may finally turn his once promising career around after a few seasons of struggle.
