It's no secret that the Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to make some moves ahead of training camp, but now, they're targeting two intriguing veterans.

Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck have both spent over a decade of their career with the New York Islanders, but with the team looking to go in a different direction this off-season, they were both waived by the team. Now, they are reportedly being targeted by the Toronto Maple Leafs, with General Manager Brad Treliving eyeing potential professional tryouts for both with training camp quickly approaching.
This was speculated quickly after their departures from New York, as they both bring the size, grit and experience that Treliving loves in a player, but with Ryan Reaves and David Kampf already on the fourth line, this move wouldn't make much sense. The Maple Leafs are loaded up front, and while they need physicality up and down their forward group, this wouldn't be the way to go about getting it, as they need more talent on their third line to bring the Stanley Cup winning depth when the most important time of the season rolls around.
It's unclear if there's any other interest around the league in the two 30+ year olds, who have both yet to pass 20 points in a year over the past five seasons, so for now, a PTO with the Maple Leafs may be the best option.
